
The Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme (CWCS) is an Australian Government initiative launching in June 2025, designed to reduce the financial burden of chronic wound care by providing fully-funded access to essential wound care products.

Who is eligible?
People who have diabetes and a chronic wound, and who are 65 and over, or 50 and over for First Nations people.

- Granudacyn Wound Irrigation Solution to cleanse and irrigate the wound.
- Exufiber / Exufiber Ag+ to absorb excess wound fluid and inactivate a variety of wound-related germs (Ag+ only).

Mepilex Border Flex is designed for wounds such as pressure injuries, leg and foot ulcers, traumatic wounds, dry/necrotic wounds in combination with gels and surgical wounds. Mepilex Border Flex Lite is designed for wounds with none to moderate levels of fluid such as leg and foot ulcers leg and foot ulcers, pressue injuries, surgical wounds and traumatic wounds. Exufiber is intended to be used on a wide range of wounds for management of moderate to high amounts of wound fluid such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure injuries, partial thickness burns, surgical wounds & donor sites. Exufiber forms a gel when in contact with wound fluid and is intended to be used on the following wounds with moderate to high amounts of fluid: Leg and foot ulcers; Pressure ulcers; Partial thickness burns; Surgical wounds; Donor sites. Exufiber Ag+ is intended to be used on the following, medium to high fluid wounds, including if these wounds are showing signs of infection. Venous leg ulcers; Diabetic foot ulcers; Pressure injuries. Exufiber Ag+ absorbs and retains wound fluid and inactivates a variety of wound-related germs. Granudacyn Wound Irrigation Solution is designed for the cleansing and irrigation of all acute and hard-to-heal wounds of any depth; such as diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds and partial thickness burns. Granudacyn Wound Gel is designed for cleansing and moistening acute and hard-to-heal wounds including infected wounds and partial thickness burns. Please ensure to clean the wound and surrounding area with Granudacyn Wound Irrigation solution and dab dry. Apply Granudacyn Wound gel to the affected areas and cover with a suitable secondary dressing. Mepilex Ag is intended to be used on infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection with low to moderate amounts of wound fluid such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure injuries and partial thickness burns. Mepilex Border Flex, Mepilex Border Flex Lite, Exufiber, Granudacyn Wound Irrigation Solution and Granudacyn Wound Gel can be used by lay persons under supervision of Healthcare Professionals; Mepilex Ag and Exufiber Ag+ should be used by or under the supervision of a qualified Healthcare Professional. It is not a replacement for comprehensive infection management by a health professional.
