Superabsorbent dressings – Mextra® Superabsorbent

Conformable superabsorbent dressing with high fluid handling1,2

Mextra® Superabsorbent addresses three of the important features of a superabsorbent dressing. High absorption capacity1,2, high retention capacity1 and excellent conformability3.  Mextra® Superabsorbent can be used on highly exuding wounds, such as venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and in some cases pressure injuries.

The high retention and absorption capacity of Mextra Superabsorbent reduces the risk of leakage, maceration and the need of frequent dressing changes, which can lead to reduced treatment costs1.

Mextra Superabsorbent is soft and conforrmable1,2 which makes it easy to apply and it fits along the body contours, making it more comfortable to wear. The dressing maintains its structure and integrity without becoming bulky upon exudate absorption1. The polyacrylate superabsorbent particles have a protease modulating activity1,4,5 and provides a conductive environment for healing to proceed. The fluid-repellent backing material protects against fluid strike-through1.

Easy application

  1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
  2. Apply Mextra Superabsorbent directly on the wound area with the white side of the dressing onto the wound. For best result, the pad should overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least 2 cm.
  3. Secure the dressing e.g. with a suitable bandage or tape.

Flexible use

  • Mextra Superabsorbent can be used together with primary dressings such as Mepitel® or Mepitel® One.
  • Mextra Superabsorbent can be used in conjunction with compression therapy for venous leg ulcers.
  • Mextra Superabsorbent may be left in place for several days. The dressing should be changed according to the clinical condition of the wound, or when saturated.

* The superabsorbent particles in the absorbent layer have a protease modulating activity
